Who We Are...

Jeff Eschman established Brazos Financial Advisors LLC to provide professional and objective financial advice to clients in the Houston area. He is a member of the Garrett Planning Network, an international affiliation of Fee-Only financial advisors, and is also a member of the Financial Planning Association, the largest association of professionals dedicated to championing the financial planning process.

Jeff is also a registered Professional Engineer. Prior to entering the financial planning profession, he enjoyed a successful 15-year engineering and project management career in the energy industry. During that time, he gained valuable experience in management, finance, economics, budgeting, cost management, long-term planning and risk control.

During those years, Jeff enjoyed doing his own financial research, and was confident initially that he could keep the family's financial house in order himself. As time passed though, the financial situation at home grew more complicated, and he began to feel that "going it alone" might not be the wisest approach! He realized that it would be reassuring, and could potentially be invaluable, to have an advisor he could rely on for occasional expert guidance. He set out to find someone he could trust, but quickly discovered that qualified, independent advisors are few and far between... and those who are out there generally aren't in the "advice business", but rather are in the money management business.

As Jeff explains, "I couldn't believe it was so difficult to find someone who would provide financial advice on terms that I was comfortable with. That is: without selling products, without demanding control of my investments, and at a reasonable cost." Ultimately, he founded Brazos Financial Advisors to provide financial planning and investment advice to others on exactly those terms.

Jeff attended the University of Texas at Austin, where he graduated in 1990 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He completed the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ Certification Education Program at Rice University in Houston, and passed the two day CFP® certification exam in 2006. He will be authorized to use the CFP® marks after fulfilling the CFP Board's specific experience requirements.

Jeff and his wife Jill live and work in central Houston, near West University and Greenway Plaza. When they're not working, they enjoy sailing on Galveston Bay, golfing, and traveling.

CFP® and CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ are certification marks owned by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. These marks are awarded to individuals who successfully complete the CFP Board's initial and ongoing certification requirements.
